Making braided rugs is a fun hobby―something you can do to kill time, decorate your home, and perhaps use it as a way to make extra cash. It helps in elevating the entire room's dcor, and making it look more comfy. However, purchasing new rugs can be an expensive deal. To beat that dilemma, why not make one at home with inexpensive items?
For things that have an oil base and are prone to getting crusted over after drying―like shoe polish or nail polish―these need to be cleaned in a different manner. The first thing that needs to be done is lightly scraping the carpet of the residues of the substance with a metal or steel object. This should be done with extreme caution so that the threads of the carpet do not start to come off. Once that is done, use a damp, white cloth and a dry cleaning agent on it. Use this to gently clean the spot so that the residues dissolve and you can scoop them with the cloth. Once this step is over, dry the carpet.
Many people tend to overlook the importance of rotating their rugs. This means that it is essential that you change its position as frequently as possible. If you observe it closely, you will notice that areas that have a high foot traffic tend to be more worn out and dirtier than other areas. To ensure that the wear and tear of the carpet is uniform throughout, keep rotating it once in 6-10 months.
Bamboo mats can also be combined with soft cotton fabrics, which increases their absorbing power, and hence they make excellent doormats, welcome mats, and even bath mats. For using bamboo mats outdoors, especially in cold weather conditions, look for the ones which are manufactured from Anji Mountain area of China. The wood is extremely durable, and can withstand the severity of cold climates. Slatted bamboo floor mats are also gaining popularity, and require the same kind of care as your regular hardwood floor. For entryways and passageways, opt for bamboo runners. Being slip resistant and able to withstand wear and tear, they offer good protection against accidental slips. Bamboo rugs that are sewn at the edges with a colorful cotton binding, and mixed with jute and sisal hemp, add their own charm to the surrounding interiors.
