Pax Ivanna. Rugs. November 19th , 2017.
Similar to what we did with the woolen rug, we need to cut strips of fabric; at least 2―3" wide. Make sure that the strips are straight so that we get an even looking rug.
A wool rug is bound to shed when it is new. A reasonable quality rug is expected to shed for almost six months, after which the shedding of fibers is reduced. To keep your rug from shedding fibers that stick to the upholstery of your room and give it a bad appearance, it is necessary to dust the wool rug once everyday. If time permits, you can also dust it as frequently as possible. To dust the wool rug, take it outside the house and give it a vigorous shake to shed loose wool fibers. Removing loose fibers and placing the rug in a low traffic area will protect it from excess shedding.
Smoothen the surface of the steps and vacuum it. In case of wooden ones, see that there are no nails sticking out. Whereas, in case of cement staircases, see that the cracks and corners are properly filled. Also, if you are replacing your old carpet, it is not advisable to reuse the old carpet pads or tack strips.
In the cap and band method of installing a carpet, you need to cut the carpet in the exact size of every tread and riser, and fix it to the stairs with an adhesive. This method is beneficial in case you have to install the carpet on a winding staircase. The basic technique on carpet installation on the floor or on stairs is the same. Once done, you should check whether the carpet is laid smoothly on each step or not. If not, take the carpet out and repeat the aforementioned process again.
