Bamboo mats or rugs are one of the most environment friendly and economical products you can buy for your home. They are available in varying shades of brown, and you can choose the color that goes well with the furnishings and decor of your house. They can be placed anywhere in the house, in your hall, kitchen, passageway, bedroom, bathroom, or even outdoors in the patio (especially if you have wooden furniture) or around the swimming pool. In fact, it blends in very well with most outdoor settings. Whatever shade of brown you choose, remember that it must blend in with the tone of your furniture and walls. Go in for a contrasting shade of brown if the rug is to be the focus of attention in your room.
Although it is stain-resistant, it is very difficult to remove stains that are oil-based. They tend to become permanent quickly. Polypropylene is an oil-lover and will soak it, making it difficult to remove even with a vacuum. Also, shampooing the rug won't help as it is water-resistant and will make the water droplets float on top itself.
It should be able to resist moisture and water. There is a lot more water in the kitchen than in other rooms due to the amount of washing and cooking you do every day. This is where a cotton rug can be very useful. Cotton has a unique capacity to soak up water, and this will help you to keep your kitchen clean.
The traditional area rugs have most intricate design patterns with maximum color combination. The popular hand-woven designs include antique pieces from India, China, Persia and Iran. Traditional area rugs, nowadays, are found in abundance ranging from ancient to modern designs.
